Hi, Im about to buy my first car, tax is up for three more month, but nct expires in two months. The story is that I have never done NCT to car, and im not quite sure how it all works, so I have few questions you guys could help me out with :)
so When should I book car for NCT? After NCT expires or before?
Should I book it online, or call them?

Maybe someone could tell me how it all works from A to Z?
    Thanks :)

Get the seller to NCT the car. They can do it up to 3 months in advance. No point buying a car without it.

If not, why not? If he thinks it's going to fail he'll do anything to get rid before the NCT is up. No point buying a car with a serious issue that will cost you a lot to fix.

What car? How much? I wouldn't buy it if the seller wouldn't put it through. Especially if it's the first car you've bought.

its a 98 audi a3. goes cheap. Im not a mechanic, but everything seemed working as it should, timing belt just done, new oil, filters, tires around 70% nct expires in june. Lady owner.

If he's too busy or something to NCT it for you then perhaps you can arrange with a local mechanic to have a look before buying.
But if he's serious then he should be able to get away for an hour to NCT it.

You arrive at NCT office, show the VLC and ID. Hand over the 50 and the car keys.
Then you sit and wait while they go out and bring car in and test it.
They call your registration out afterwards and you go up to get the good/bad news.

    €55

You can book online or ring them. Give the registration number. They will give you a date, time and test centre location to bring the car.
