Well I went into a garage to-day to enquire about trading in my car, imagine my surprise when the sales guy tapped away at his computer and told me my car had 120,000 miles recorded in 2009 even though the mileage now is 40,000 miles, I've had this car since 2007 with 26,000 miles and have kept a meticulous record of the mileage for every service and NCT. The problem now is my car is now undervalued because of this discrepency, this is the SIMI car history site so I'm wondering what should I do now, can the SIMI change the information before I get any more funny looks when I visit a garage to trade in?

But I've owned it since 2007 with 26,000 miles. the only year for the incorrect mileage is 2009 with 120,000 miles. The recorded mileage in 2008 is 29,000 miles.

Find out where they get their data. If it came from a garage doing a service it may a mistake. If you can show them that it cant have been your car that was at 120,000 miles in 2009 they may change it for you.

Yes, I reckon there's a typo, just checked through my NCT certs and they all show the correct mileage for the years, it may well have been passed on incorrectly by the garage that serviced it.

Is the salesman trying to use this as an excuse to give you less for your car? He knows well that these mistakes can be corrected.

Crossed my mind alright Anan, I'm going to ring the SIMI in the morning and try to get it sorted even if I have to go down and bang on their door :) and show them the history of the car.

Is it a SIMI system he's using or something that gets its mileage off the Motorcheck NMR? If its the latter, the main man at Motorcheck floats around here and can probably help.

SIMI's system may even be using said registry.

Big as far as I understand

But if I go on motor check and type in 150000 miles as the mileage I want to. Heck is this not recorded as the current mileage ?

Also op if you have nct reports ( not certs for some reason) they have the mileage on the
    Might help
