Applying for grants, Advice needed.

I'm currently on a year out and I want to try and apply for a general grant and the hear grant. None of my sisters have ever gotten a grant after applying but there is no harm in trying anyway. The thing is, I have no clue how to do it and since I'm out of secondary school and can't get any help from a career guidance…
