    Yeah should work fine.

    From here http://www.htc.com/www/smartphones/htc-one-x/#specs
    Network
    HSPA/WCDMA: (is 3G)
    Europe/Asia: 850/900/1900//2100 MHz
    GSM/GPRS/EDGE: (is 2G)
    850/900/1800/1900 MHz

    And here http://whirlpool.net.au/wiki/mobile_phone_frequencies
    Australian 3G bands:

    850MHz (Telstra, Vodafone) – Exclusive 3G band
    900MHz (Optus, Vodafone) – Re-uses the 2G 900 band for 3G in rural areas
2100MHz (Telstra, Optus, Vodafone, 3 Mobile) – Exclusive 3G band

    Australian 2G bands:

    900Mhz (Telstra, Optus & Vodafone)
    1800Mhz (Telstra, Optus & Vodafone)

It's all about what frequencies the phone can work on and what frequencies the networks broadcast on. You'll see that from above that they correlate with each other, so I don't see why the phone won't work if its unlocked like you say it is! :)

How cheap? :D Would love to get a One X, was playing around with one in an Optus store the other day, seems like a sweet bit of gear. Regards your query, I brought over my unlocked Galaxy S2 and just popped in a SIM card over here, so cant imagine you'll have any issue with the One X.
