advice on sealing fuel tank

I recently bought a zil 131 (Soviet military truck v8 6lt) well one of the fuel tanks is rusted on the inside .I have removed the tank and washed it out with thinners and then power washed it with detergent .Is there any way I can seal the inside of the tank ? I can just about see small patches of surfavce rust .

How big is the tank and can you reach all areas inside the tank with you hand ?

i used some cemical metal to fix the tiny rust holes on mine ,six months later and all is still good . the car is being used as a daily driver so it is being used all the time ,27 year old renault 9

I used that plastic metal stuff on the outside and the sealant liquid on the inside, it seems to be holding ok.

You could also coat it inside and out in epoxy resin and if you like you could use fiberglass cloth on the outside to toughen it up it will dry clear and keep the colour of the tank.

before i fixed my leaky petrol tank i researched the aviation fuel tank sealer (my brother is a qualified air craft technition )he said aviation fuel sealer wouldnt be able to seal petrol tanks .

the tank is not "holy" only rusty, had a look at it this evening ,it has now tdried out nicely with just small rust patches visable

Why does he think it wouldn't ? Pr1422 was developed for use with AVGAS or Jet A1 or similar . Jet fuel is similar to diesel and avgas is similar to petrol. Please elaborate I'd be interested to know.

he told me jet fuel is closer to parafin than petrol and petrol would wash off the stuff they use on jets (commercial and military),i can only take his word for it .jet fuel as far as i can recall isnt as volatile or have as high an octane rating as petrol .

Jet A-1 is close to kerosene/diesel but burns hotter and doesn't freeze and AVGAS is for piston aircraft engines is basically high octane petrol with high lead content. PR1422 sealant is resistant to both . if you can make a product to remove pr1422 easily you'll make a fortune selling it to Aircraft Maintenance organisations because anything I've ever seen cant shift the stuff , manually removing it with great difficulty and alot of time especially in fuel tanks is the only way . There is some chemical stripper that attempts to soften it but only on the surface .M.E.K. or acetone or pure alcohol do nothing to it.
