Are UK/NI/Ire boxes the same the only difference being the cards that are put into them. I am using FTA and already get the UK channels but I want to add an old sky box , get a card - someone mentioned Wicklow at E15 (contact partics) to be able to get RTE etc. Am I correct in this assumption.

    Thanks in advance

You can use the UK card to get the ITV channels and Channel5, 5USA etc but it wont get you RTE. To get RTE through your Sky box you will have to be a subscriber.

    Hi Muffler

Thanks for that reply but the card I had in mind was an Sky Irish FTA and I want to know if all boxes and all cards are compatible. i.e. if I get a box from UK and put an irish Sky FTA card in will I get RTE besides the UK programs (which I already have).

    Regards

RTE is not a FTA channel on any sky card, its a subscription channel on sky so you wont get it off any FTA sky card or sky box.

Unless you are a Sky subscriber you wont get RTE with a FTA card as stated above by Extinction.

In relation to the boxes I dont believe it makes any difference where you get the them as its the card that is the important part. If you become a sky subscriber and have an active card and change the box then its just a matter of ringing Sky and getting them to pair the card with the box.
