Garage price drop?

I was looking at a car for sale for 10,000. It was then dropped to 9500, by the end of the week, although the garage owner told me this was an "error" by their admin staff and that the price should still be 10,000.
Funny then that the price dropped again this week to 9250! Another mistake, ye right!
Any reason for this price fluctuation as the car seems genuine?

Probably no interest in it, and as soon as it drops you show up and he tries to milk you for the extra 500, or at least give it to you for 9,500 in the hope that you think you are getting a bargain.
Anonymously call-up and ask the price. If it were me, negotiations start at 9250, not 10k.

I like to call again and ask him how did they manage to make an "error" twice in a row about dropping the price. He swore blind to me that the price drop was a mistake, so I like to hear his latest explanantion!
Its salesmen like these that make me cringe

It's a business, and they're trying to make as much as they can. It's hardly surprising. Offer what you think its worth and leave it at that.

It's pretty sharp practice in fairness. Dropping it to garner interest then saying it was a mistake there's no price drop. Then dropping it even further a week later.

Sounds to me like he knows you are watching the car so he is testing the water to see if you are smitten enough to pay the higher initial price.

He can have a different price for every day of the week if he wants, it's his car. As Alanstrainor says, offer what you think it's worth.
