Hi. Can you help.  I have a new seagate media player (the 2tb goflex cinema)and when I plug the hard drive into my laptop or any other computer it says the folder is not recognisable or is corrupted. When I plug the hard drive back into the tv to see if everything is deleted the files are all still there? It is only one folder that is not recognisable but it's full of the kids films!!!! The other folders are still there and are ok on the computer and tv.

    Any idea what to do?

    Anyone?

Posted this in another section but got no replies. Maybe it was in the wrong section. Sorry mods

In Windows right-click the drive and go
Tools > Error checking > Automatically fix file system errors
    and click start.

If that doesnt work try ticking the other box instead, this is a full surface scan, but note this will take many hours on a 2TB drive over USB 2. Easily 8+

When I right click the drive I do not get a tools option I get properties etc an. When I click tools on the top tab while the folder is highlighted I only get 4 options- map drive, disconnect drive, open sync centre and folder options

    Any ideas?

Hi there, I also have the seagate 2tb goflex cinema media player. Is there any way I can set the brightness etc to auto so it matches the tv settings?
It's annoying because when I play a movie on the media player(goflex) it's duller than on my normal tv, and I had to go to the settings on the media player and try to match the brightness with the tv settings but it's still not right, So is there any way to set the settings to auto?

    Cheers

How did you encode the movies, maybe an issue with the codec you used? Have you tried different encoding settings? Do the problems, persist? A HDMI cable shouldnt cause those kind of problems

    Hey nick,
    thanks for the reply,
I transferred them from my laptop.
how do i change encoding settings ?
on the tv or media player ...
The sync issue is on most files but not all which is very strange..combination of avi and mp4...the player workd perfectly on a cheaper tv in the other room ( a finlux tv...no sync issues )
Also a slight drag on the video from time to time....like pressing pause and releasing straight away...very strang also

What did you use to encode the problematic files (ie rip them)? It sounds to me like the particular player doesn't "like" the method you used to encode the oos problematic files. Re-ripping them with alternate settings should sort it :)

What program did you use to rip the blu ray/dvd in the first place? Then alternative methods can be suggested. If the content is (legally) downloaded I think the best bet is to contact the provider and see what they suggest. Your issue really does sound like codec incompatability to me.
