New bike setup

OK I am newbie, but got a mountain bike this weekend. It a Cube Ltd and was going out cycling with a more experienced biker. When we checked the bike out, the front shock had no air, I was lucky he had a shock pump (i know I will need one but was hoping to build up my kit a bit slower) , the back brake needs a lot more pull compared to the front which on the button, and the front derailleur doesn't seem to click up easily (that bit could be me getting used to the pressure required) but the rear is OK.
Should I have expected this to be checked in the workshop before it left do they do a PDI or is it a case that I should be doing these jobs?

    Regards

    Los

Absolutely .... all of those items should have been sorted before the bike was given to you!

Thanks have emailed the shop. Like to have this stuff written down just in case.

I'd bring the bike down to them in person and get the bike setup properly then and there... Emailing doesn't always fix issues with a bike ;)

Thanks. They actually rang back. Bike is going in for first thing for a check.
