AFAIK jailbreaking on firmware higher than 3.55 is a no go, there is a thread on this forum to keep you updated on any developments

Its Doable, but its not gonna be cheap and requires soldering.
You need an E3 flasher, Infectus or a similar hardware flasher.
You then have to connect this up, dump your current FW, extract the console specific info, then add this data to 3.55CFW and reflash.
There are plenty of guides/tutorials around but its really a job for the pro's or dedicated amatuer.

    Here's the installation diagram - http://www.e3-tech.net/images/E3%20FLASHER%20PIC/new-mainboard-fast-dual-boo.jpg

It's no walk in the park.

It is, but only if you're already lower than 3.55 ;)

I think there's a semi-hack for 3.56, that JFW thing or something. It's only for those who were stuck on 3.56 though & far less useful that a 3.55 cfw.

    Basically, get a 360 :)

I don't think you can use the E3 flasher if your console is fairly new. If you just bought that console and it came with stock firmware above 3.55 don't touch your ps3.

Jailbreaking seems to be only working on firmware 3.55 or lower. I'd only recommend attempting to jailbreak your PS3 if it's on 3.55 and it's a spare cause you could end up bricking it.

My best mate and I decided to jailbreak his 3.55 console, Everything went well and when we tried to go back to the default the console bricked

EnterNow I'm sorry if this is hijacking a thread but...

Kinda getting sick of not being able to connect my PS3 to PSN but at the same time I don't want to loose some of my emus and other homebrew on the PS3...

Would you have a price for setting up a dual boot on the PS3 by any chance?

You'd need a hardware flasher & two hard drives. Combined with the installation price, you'd be as well buying a cheap second hand PS3. The cost for someone to do it would outweigh what the mod is worth. I personally don't offer anything like this, but TouchingVirus may in the future.

Don't hold your breath though :)

A second hard drive is needed too?

Bah... nuts to that then. Ok well thanks for getting back to me anyway.

    Whats Required??
For this you will need a few things. They are as follows:
    1. Playstation 3 console that can run 3.55 (Newer slims may not work)
    2. A hardware flasher (ProgSkeet, E3 Flasher, Teensy++,etc)
    3. A way to get into service mode (dongle, psp, ipod, andriod, etc)
    4. PS3UPDAT.PUP 4.00
    5. Rogeros CFW3.55 syscon patches
    6. Downgrade Patches V2
    7. A USB stick 512MB or larger for service mode software install
    8. 2 seperate Harddrives, 1 for OFW and 1 for CFW

    http://www.ps3crunch.net/forum/threads/1872-HOW-TO-Dual-Boot-3-55CFW-and-4-00-OFW-FLASHER-REQUIRED

I'm not even sure if it's possible on 4.10, as this guide was for 4.00

Definitely don't hold your breath. I've about as much interest in the PS3 as I do in astrology or trying to paint the sky, anything I do I'll do for me and won't be offered as a service :)

The cost can't justify the work in the case of PS3 modding. Plus, it's the PS3 :p

Sorry to hijack thread, but I have an xbox on newest possible FW. What, if any, are my options for mods?

You hijack a thread which is bad enough, but the original thread wasn't even about an xbox 360 :P

There's no charge for making a new thread man, just click on the button :D
