Hi I know the question is more an engineering question but couldn't find such a forum so hope this is an ok place to post the question.

My attic was partially "converted" when I bought it - well it had 8' x 4' floor boards. The beams and the joists are 2"x8". I was wondering if anyone knew or could point me in the right direction to were I can find the formula for calculating the max weight load a floor / attic floor can take.

I was hoping to build a garage in my back garden for my gym equipment but due to it being mid terraced with the only access being through the front door it is proving quite difficult so I've been looking at any other possible solutions. All the gym equipment comes to a total weight of approx 1200kg. I'm looking to see how realistic an option it would be to use the attic.

Thanks in advance for any help you can throw my way
