Fitting Power Windows to 89 E34

    Hi i have a 89 BMW 520 E34 & 96 BMW 525td E34 both are saloon . The 89 does not have electric windows & the 96 is doner i bought with electrics . I want to move over the electric windows from the 96 to the 89 . How big a job is this will i have to cut the wires to theard them . I think they all plug in behind the front passenger glovebox in the footwell.

    Have you got a schematic of the wiring the wiring diagram? you might have to grab this from the haynes manual cause the WDS system doesn't seem to go back that far.

    If the up/down buttons are beside the gear stick, the wiring should be fairly simple. Should just be two wires going over to the door / window motor.

    You'll need to find out if the switch on these actually switches the power, or just switches a control signal to a relay/module. There's two ways of telling this, the gauge of the wiring (heavy wire means the switch is switching the motor power). Also the number of wires, if there's 6 wires the switch is doing all of the work and no other module is involved.

    Strip out the motors, switches, wiring, examine them and set them up on the bench and get the whole thing working there first.

    Ok i took the blank off of the rear door window switch & they were no wires or sockets on the 89. I will need the relay modual out off the 96 in the engine for the windows do you know which one it is .
