Sorry this is on the main page in its own thread. I went looking for the OT thread only to notice that it's been closed. So yes I passed the DTT yesterday- I'm delighted, it's my first step to getting on the road. At 34 years old it's something I should have done years ago but there was never a culture of cars in our family.
I have a genuine interest in cars but not having a licence was just silly and a major oversight really (I've never needed one- but that's just short sighted). Being in the test centre was amusing and embarrassing all at the same time- I was the oldest there by a country mile!

Right- just wanted to say I'm thrilled and I must go book myself some lessons!

    Ignore what people say!!

The test is fairly straight forward though there can be some tricky questions on tractors and the like.
My advice is to get yourself down to Easons or similar, buy the theory test cd-rom and the Rules of The Road book. It's the cheapest and most effective combination of study material. It'll set you back around €23

Libraries have the theory test book and CD rom disc too. I think that that the disc is the best way to study for the exam. It mirrors the conditions of the exam, ie looking at a screen and selecting the answers. Very handy if you are nervous during exams. It's also good as you can pause at certain sections and go back to them. You can also take dummy tests, and it keeps track of your score for you.

There is usually a waiting list for them, so put your name down for them as soon as you can.
