    Hello.

Can you swim with contact lenses?
Are the little cases they come in safe to carry around in your pocket with you?
What are the chances of them getting dislodged or falling out during sports etc?
Do they dry out while drinking alcohol or coffee and if so would you need to re-wet them often?
Since you need to re-wet them once a day do you need to have the little case and a solution bottle near you at all times?

I have googled around but have not really found answers to these questions.

    Hello.

Can you swim with contact lenses?

No, there is a bacteria in water like swimming pools (and saunas steam rooms, basically warm water) that can cause a nasty eye infection. If your sight is that bad the only thing I would recommend is (ideally) prescription goggles or daily lenses and take them out and throw them away straight after leaving the pool

I presume you are talking about monthly lenses and the case that you store them in.
What are the chances of them getting dislodged or falling out during sports etc?
Highly unlikely. However if they are in inside out they can more easily pop out
Do they dry out while drinking alcohol or coffee and if so would you need to re-wet them often?
They can dry out a bit, depends on your eyes.
Since you need to re-wet them once a day do you need to have the little case and a solution bottle near you at all times?
Nope, you can buy rewetting drops. You can even get them in individual vials and just keep the little vials in your pocket.
I have googled around but have not really found answers to these questions.

Your optometrist would be able to answer all these questions!

Thanks, I will be going to the optometrist I just like being somewhat informed beforehand.

Yes, I will be looking to get the monthly ones which you can where all day and night.

So do you need to carry around the solution bottle with you or can you add solution to the little case thing in the morning and re-wet them later in the night?

In that case I'd be looking at artifical tears, something along this line http://www.google.ie/imgres?um=1&hl=en&sa=N&rlz=1C1GPEA_enIE350IE350&biw=1280&bih=709&tbm=isch&tbnid=5mzjWelCkRV8YM:&imgrefurl=http://www.firstchoicepharmacy.co.uk/Amo-Blink-Contacts-Soothing-Eye-Drops-(vials)-55.html&docid=zLZ3Y-q6MrRi2M&imgurl=http://www.firstchoicepharmacy.co.uk/imgProducts/img-fs/1208987053-FirsctChoicePharmacy.co.uk.jpg&w=250&h=189&ei=uYOdT7q3EJGChQfqpZXkDg&zoom=1&iact=hc&vpx=727&vpy=191&dur=79&hovh=151&hovw=200&tx=68&ty=93&sig=112517300813817890488&page=1&tbnh=151&tbnw=200&start=0&ndsp=18&ved=1t:429,r:3,s:0,i:70

Probably should have asked in the store. The eye solution you use to store the contacts in can you add that into your eye to moisten it? or is their special drops?

Can your eye get too dry that even with drops to moisten them getting the contacts out will still be hard?

I wouldn't use the solution directly into your eye. The drops like I put a link to above will help the lenses maintain more moisture.

Your eyes can be dry but there are many different types of contacts that hold moisture better and silicone hydrogel lenses don't rely on your tears to keep the lens moist. If they are uncomfortable, consider trying a different type of lens!

Well I did not pour directly into my eye I poured around and let it seep in as otherwise I could not grip the lense to take it out.

I am asking specsavers today and they will probably recommend the drops like you, thanks for the advice.

They did not feel dry or scratchy in my eye at all, just hard to pinch out without wetting and I was told never to use water and drops were never brought up so I assumed the solution could be used but had a weird feeling about using the solution as eye drops.

Can these eye drops be used on all contact lenses, even the ones that are supposed to stay in your eye 24/7 for the whole month?

I rang specsavers and they said they could, I am just wondering why they did not bring it up yesterday and try to sell me some if I would possibly need some drops.
