Vokera Mynute 16e problem

I have a Vokera Mynute 16e gas boiler that is not igniting. I have tried the reset mode and nothing. The red fault light is not on and the pressure gauge is at zero, i take it that it should be at 1 ? I have checked all the water valves at the upstairs hotpress and they are all in an open position. Also the outside pipe for the pressure release had been dripping water when the boiler was on for a few weeks. I have a regi gas fella coming on Tuesday but any advice would be helpful.

The safety valve pipe was probably dripping as your expansion vessels is burst , now that the pressure is too low the boiler won't fire you are better off waiting for it to be fixed rather than topping it back up only for it to be let out of the safety valve again as soon as the boiler heats up , your safety valve might also need to be replaced as the seating might be damaged now , it might be cheaper to get the expansion vessel relocated to your hotpress , if you noticed a leak at your pressure release (safety valve ) pipe a few weeks ago you should have got it repaired straight away , you knew by the name of it that there was a build up of pressure in your system , its not something to put on the long finger

Most times I find the expansion vessel is not burst, only down to zero charge, maybe even the vessel air valve is passing (€1 from a good bike shop) and pump it back up, +1 on the safety valve, usually end up replacing them, but seating can be cleaned but with limited success!

I had similar problem with this type of boiler. Footpump and a bit of vaseline on the valve sorted it for about a year. Ended up getting it replaced and moved to hotpress. Bout €150 to get replaced.
You can top it up manually by just opening the water inlet valve until the boiler ignites and then shutting again. Will get you out of a jam if you need heating.

The thing is my friend is a plumber for 20 years and i showed him what was happening to the outside pipe and the dripping. He said the pressure was to high but that the dripping was the release valve doing its job and leave well enough alone!!

I only noticed this morning that there was water dripping from the boiler itself and i opened the panel. It was coming from the area you are talking about, the small thing like a dust cap over the pump, it was loose. As soon as i tightened it the leaking stopped. Is this the cause of my problems all along?

Thanks for the reply. So try to top it up with air where the small cap like a dust cap is above the pump?

You need to get a gas installer. If it is dripping outside then safety valve is fine. Pump up that valve with a normal bicycle pump, put a dab of vaseline in the dust cap and tighten back on. Should work ok for you.
Let us know how you get on.

The second i open the valve water starts coming out, only trickling. The valve is in such a position i cant put a valve on it to pump it, its to tight

If there is water coming out of the valve on the expansion vessel then it's shot. Don't know if the valve it self can be replaced.

Vokera are great at looking after there own products and give good breakdown cover packages.

If the safety valve has been passing to the outside for some time more than likely it too will need replacing as any dirt in the water will damage the seat and it might not close again properly.

I think thats the automatic air vent dust cap your after tightening there on the pump. That should be loose so air can vent from the heating system and if its letting by the automatic air vent will need replacing also.

Ok very late posting this back. But as my problem is sorted ill let people know what was wrong in case they have the same issue. Got a gas /plumber guy out. He barely looked at anything on the boiler once he seen the pressure was at zero, he got me busy bleeding the rads while he did something with the pump in the boiler. He came upstairs and checked the water valves in the hot press and they were all in the open position, but he knew the top up pipe was not letting the water through, so he opened the pipe and the joint in the pipe or valve or whatever its called below the actual red knob was seized up. So he just put lubricant on it un seized it and put it back. And that was it, nothing at all wrong with the boiler, water pressure came back, heating came back. €80 and job was done, so im very happy.

if u have not got another expansion vessel on system then u will need to replace the one in boiler or fit new one on system as one in boiler is f#cked.otherwise no expansion in system
