'Celebrity'/'Entertainment' news on Spin1038 (all stations?)

I was in Halfords yesterday afternoon where the display radios were broadcasting Spin1038 to the whole store. I happened to be there while they were going through their 'celebrity' or 'entertainment' news. During the segment, they used the word 'b1tch' once or twice, and it shocked me a bit.

I know that 'celebrity' culture is very popular now and these magazines sell very well in the supermarkets and newsagents, but the tone of this particular segment was very b1tchy in itself. I can't remember the exact details, but I think it involved the presenter complaining that some 'celebrity' was asked something by one of these showbiz reporters and refused to answer. It's all a bit vague now, but I suppose my main problem with what I half-heard (thankfully I managed to block out most of their drivel!) was, as I said above, the tone of this particular segment.

As it is, most of this stuff seems to involve items of 'news' about people who I haven't heard of doing things I don't care about in places I've no interest in going to.

If young people, who probably comprise the majority of Spin's audience, regularly hear this sort of stuff on their radio, then they willl believe that it's OK to behave in this catty fashion, which can lead to bullying of their peers, especially on Facebook, which can then lead to worse things.

Or am I just turning into Victor Meldrew?

Nonsense news on some celebrity who has named their child 'paint can' or 'gooseberry' or 'Carlow'. No one Fúcking cares.

Some TV stations do that stuff, during the ad. breaks this lady comes on and tells you what some 'celebrities' are up to. Frankly I have nothing but pity for the people who pay attention to that crap, clearly they are living their lives through others.

Ok, I do read 'Hello' and similar magazines in the doctor/dentist waiting room but it's only to look at the pictures, I never read the articles - promise!
