What are the best in ear earphones out there for around 50 euro (possibly up to a 100)?

The in-ear dre beats would be my top recommendation, used a friend of mines, absolutely class, excellent sound quality.

Are they actually good or do they just look good?

I've got a pair of sennheiser CX300's had them since Christmas and no problems, I've compared them to the beast and theres no difference really, and my friend had 3 pairs of the beats and they all broke within weeks, also the senns have a 2 year warranty.

I had a pair of CX250's (which I lost...) which were great, cheers I will look up these.

I have a pair of MX270s now and they are not bad considering their price, so I know Sennheiser make good quality earphones.

Alright I will settle on Sennheisers then, now just to look up different types and best prices.

I'm really impressed with my Sennheiser CX 980s. And I only had to pay £40/€50 for them as well, I got them on Amazon when they were reduced from £180/€220. They're reduced again now but it's only down to £130/€160. I just got lucky because they just happened to be down to €50 at the time I was looking to buy a new pair. Whatever ones you buy though, I think you should look around and wait a while because the prices, especially on Amazon, kinda go up and down fairly regularly.

You should have a look in the Headphones & Portable Audio Devices forum. You'll find everything you need in there.

I don't like the in-ear earphones. They keep falling out of my ears and the sound quality isn't great. Much prefer the headphones. I'm saving up for a pair of Sennheiser HD-25s.

You have to carry them around, I don't like doing that.

I do have a pair of over ear ones but I don't use them outsides as I already walk around with too many gadgets/wires with me daily as it is.

Check out the Headphones forum first, some really good advice to be found here:

I wouldn't buy Beats tbh. Like, they're nice headphones and all, but you can buy better headphones for a much cheaper price.

    I have these:

    koss_portapro_2.jpg

Koss Porta Pro, normally retail around 30e. One of the (if not, the) best pairs of headphones for that price (I know you're looking for earphones but I thought I might as well throw them in here).

I never really wear them outside the house anyway. If I was going on a journey I'd have them. It makes the bus journey an awful lot better.

I wore them a lot when I was in college. They were great for using in the library when I had an assignment to do or something. Blocked out all of the noise.

They are a bit of a hazard at times though. I walked out in front of a Luas tram last year. I wasn't wearing my contacts at the time so my peripheral vision was non-existent. It was kinda funny though. The driver was going mental at me. Twas a very close call.

Looking for a pair of new headphones myself! I've had earphones all my short life, but after trying friends' headphones, I feel an urge to be completely drowned in sound aka I want some whopper headphones. Those Koss Portapro looks tasty, might invest.

I've no idea what the ones you mentioned are like but I bought a pair of Sony MDR-V500s last year. I still have them and they're working perfectly. They were only €30 on Amazon.

If you have about another hundred to spend then I'd recommend the Sennheiser HD-25s. Every single review of them that I've read has said that they are the best headphones in their price range, and in almost all other price ranges as well. All of the parts are replaceable as well which helps to keep the price down over time, and should mean that you'll have no need to buy a new pair of headphones until forever.

That's a good point Jimmy, I'll take all this under advisement, think I'l spend a day in the near future scouting around for the best option. Have to be tactical money-wise.

Sonys I find have always been very acceptable, have had a pair of Sony earphones for the last 2 years or so, and they have great sound quality for the 25 or so euro I paid for them.

Have a look in the headphones forum that I linked to in one of my posts above. The guys in there are geniuses when it comes to your predicament. They could list headphones all day long.

Nice one, this will go on my list to checkout. I have a pair of JVC earphones the big over ear style ones and they have good quality.

Does anyone know of a durable pair of in-ear headphones?

Unfortunately my iBeats are showing signs that they are on their way out after only 6 months so I need a replacement.

I've had Sennheiser CX 300 & CX 500 in the past but they only lasted around 6 months also so I'm trying to avoid them (usually the left or right channel goes and I'm left listen to music in one ear).

I would recommend Sennheiser... They are the best in sound quality...

    I still haven't bought a new pair.

Sennheiser looks the best for the price, I am actually using a pair of old iPod earphones atm as they are the only in-ear ones I could find after I lost a pair or two of proper ones.

Nice one, looks like I will have to walk to Harvey Normans tomorrow to check it out. Can't find it online, must ring them before I head out to them.

I'll try to find it at home to confirm. It's a great deal, can't avail of it myself however, no HN back this way :(

I must get new in ear ones but those Sennheisers look pretty good...so thanks for that everyone whos singing the praise :). As for over the ear. Trust me, 'Bose TriPorts' are the nastiest. They cost a bomb but are well worth the investment.

CX 300-II for €50 in Harvey Normans.

Didn't even plan on buying them but they have noise isolation that works pretty well for buses and the likes.

Listening to Rob Kelly from Track of the day thread, on full blast and it hurts my eyes from the sheer amount of Bass.
