i have a medical card and am quite aware that you can get 2fillings a year which is ok,went to dentist today as a filling fell out and was told as i had a filling on that tooth in the last 5 years that i would have to pay myself (80 euro).Has anyone else heard of this. Im Just mad to be honest because we are never made aware and they changing things the whole time.so in other words if u have had a filling in last five years on a tooth the medical card will not cover you.

I had the same issue last year and got my filling replaced on the medical card for no fee.

Was recorded as an "emergency procedure" and was covered.

    Noboc:
Change your dentist. He seems to be a gold digger...
You get two fillings within 12 months through the medical card.No change there.
    5 years is nonsense...

not technically true. you get two emergency fillings. they have to causing you pain. so if you go in, and say that this thing fell out a few months ago and it hasn't caused any pain, then he's right to charge you.
the medical card form has a box where you have to justify the work that's done. 'filling fell out' will not be paid out on. it's just the way the HSE works now.
as for the 5 year thing, the HSE don't usually pay out on stuff that has to be redone within a relatively short period of time. this can depend on what area of the country you are in too.
