Not sure if right forum, but, how could you find out if a company was placed into receivership. Heard some rumours about a company that went into receivership and wanted to find out if true.

I've never found the free search on the CRO to be as reliable.

e.g, Eircom Limited are still showing as status "normal" - http://www.cro.ie/search/CompanyDetails.aspx?id=98789&type=C

Is that because Eircom is not in receivership?

    It recently entered examinership.

Examinership is not receivership. It is only in interim examinership.

    Doesn't display on CRO?

The CRO status only shows dissolved or normal. It doesn't show liquidations or receiverships or examinerships unless one looks at the filings.

If a company is in receivership, it should be display on their website, headed paper, etc. AFAIK

What is your authority for that?

Once a receiver is appointed all invoices, orders for goods and business letters issued by or on behalf of the company must contain a notice to that effect.

My head, but it came from a book somewhere.

Ants has already stated the same and a quick Google found this link, among others

    Says nothing about website.

Nearly sure it was amended to include - the name of the company changes to X (in receivership)

Some more info is here: http://www.cro.ie/ena/letterheads.aspx although doesn't specifically state
