    Hi,
Does anybody know where a 14 year old can get a summer job. Searched online and can't really find any. I am a A+ student in maths and business and have a great interest in the outdoors and know all about all the gear eg. The North Face, Rab, Berghaus, Salomon so an outdoor shop would be great. Also I am good at computers (especially macs). Can work most of June, 3 weeks in July and all of August.:)
    Thanks,
    Aaron

There's huge restrictions on hiring people under 16. Even during the summer there's strict limits on how many hours you can work and you need more breaks than others. For these reasons, shops in general will not hire people under the age of 16 and plenty won't hire under the age of 18 because you're in school. If you look at job applications online like Next and primark, they all want you to tick the box 'are you over the age of 16'. Or tick your age group, the lowest being 16. By all means check out summer contract jobs online as you won't be restricted with school then, but you'll still come up against the minimum age bracket.

You could work in more casual places though. Garden centres, stables, local corner shops (ie. not spar, more independent corner shops), paper round, leaflet distribution, sports centres etc. Unfortunately retail and catering are pretty much out of the question.

The vast, vast majority of employers will not employ a 14yo. Only possibility might be a reataurant or pub. But by & large its a no no.

True pubs would be the type of employers that would hire you, but you can't serve alcohol, work after 10pm, or work long shifts. Worth a shot though. Failing that, do you have any relatives that would be able to get you a summer job or something?

Unless you personally know someone who owns a Store, and who would actually be willing to take you on for a short period of time, I'm afraid you will really struggle to find work.

Honestly, as someone who worked countless part-time jobs throughout Secondary School, I would encourage you to spend your time more wisely and do some voluntary Work.

Believe me, it's a lot more rewarding than the absolute pittance you're likely to get from the Employer who begrudgingly takes you on - and looks a lot better on your CV.

No kid you wont be able to work legally in public till your 16. there is thousands of unemployed people with life experience that cant even get the type of job your looking for so i cant see ya having much hope tbh. you could try the bogs you would get work no problem there.
