    Hi guys,

I'm looking for a 60-70k trip, starting from the rathmines area.
Not looking for anything madly hilly, but I'm looking to push the spins out from around the 40k I'm doing at the moment.

i can't help you but I always find the search function in mapmyride to be useful to find other routes.

    Strava has a similar function.

Your definition of "Not looking for anything madly hilly" must differ significantly from mine :D Stocking Lane up to the viewing point is exactly what I'd call extremely b****y hilly!

It is a nice spin though.

Do 2 laps of your 40k route?

If you want to avoid the Wicklow mountains (or at least the upper reaches of them) then I'd suggest one of the following routes.

    Kilternan-Bray-Greystones and back
Tallaght-Blessington-Manor Kilbride and back by Tallaght again
Saggart-Newcastle-Maynooth-Leixlip-Home (this one might be a bit on the long side)

You'd have to play around a bit with these routes to get one that's within the 60-70k range. This is more to give you an idea of where you can head to avoid the big hills.

Cycle out to kylemore and get on the grand canal cycle route. It ends at Adamstown. Hang a left and head out to Newcastle and head out on the nice country roads toward county Kildare. Straffan is a nice spot. I hate hills and this route is grand. Although you might find the gates at the canal annoying

Sure 800m elevation gain is only warming up ;)

I live in Dundrum, so not too far away. Dundrum - Airport - Malahide - Sutton and back to Dundrum via IFSC is about 65km's.

    2 options for you,
head for the phoenix park and do a few laps of it. about 9.5k per lap
or continue on out through Castleknock, Clonee, Dunboyne, Maynooth and back through Leixlip Lucan home...

I do this lap a bit and vary it up a bit, but from Rathmines, I'd say you could get a nice 60 or 70 spin, no real serious hills to mention. if you are interested, i can tell you in more detail what way i go, and even head out with you sometime if you fancy

That sounds quite good - any more detail would be appreciated!

Did a couple of routes up on Map my Ride. I normally do the first one from Castleknock and it is a decent spin once you get out past Dunboyne you are in the countryside, no real hills to mention, but there are a couple of small ones to get you out of the saddle. Recently I've adjusted this spin to get an extra few k in, and if I still have some in the legs, I will do a lap in the park to finish.

I normally go out on Tuesday evenings, though tonight looks like a washout and I'm not stupid brave enought to go out in that tonight! Might go tomorrow instead, and also going to try and get a second midweek spin in on Thursdays.

I also go out on Sunday mornings, and last Sunday got up to 70k. I've not done the second route yet but will probably tackle it next Sunday morning and throw in a couple of laps of the park to bring me up to 90k or so.

It would be great to have someone tag along if you are interested?
