When are the likes of Dabs, Komplett.ie, laptopsdirect.ie etc expected to refresh their present line of notebooks inline with this range of processor? Has their been an official date as to when they are to be released? If it means I have to look abroad so be it.

If anyone knows about the situation, I'd be grateful.

    Cheers & thanks :)

I don't know if there's an official launch date but I'd reckon you will only see one or two models with IB in May and then a proper range of them in the following months.

If IB isn't a must have for you, you should be able to pick up some good deals on SB models as they'll be reduced to clear stock before IB launches.

Really? I heard the 1st gen range was coming out tomorrow.

Seen that mentioned on the other thread after I posted that.

I still think it will be a few months before they're widely available in a good few models plus I think they are only releasing lower spec ones initially.

It's the other way round actually, first the Core i7 Quads. Dual core Ivy bridge chips will be another couple of months.

It's probably politics, the manufacturers still have too many 2nd gen laptops they need to sell... times are tough, you know. ;)

I posted about the HP IBs about a month ago.

So what's the update now? The shops I've been browsing are soaked with old tech. and big prices for that tech.

Waiting here impatiently on the release of the IB Asus Zenbook Primes... if anyone has any updates?

German sites offer them already on pre-order. They should arrive on Aug, 2nd. I suppose around the same time they'll become available here and in the UK. Or get one now in the US of A... with US keyboard layout. ;)

Update: Komplett have the Zenbook Prime UX31A-R4003V (Ivy Bridge Core i7 3517U) in stock already, €1,449

Thanks for the link to Komplett Torqay... they seem to be charging a pretty hefty premium over the german sites

Also seems that all the German sites though will come with a qwertz german layout keyboard... and that would be even worse than a US keyboard!

Guess i'll just have to wait another 10 days and see what happens when they actually start shipping!

So when we start to see Ivy flood our markets...do you think they'll charge a premium for the new tech? Did they do that with Sandy Bridge? I'm finally about to buy a new laptop with Sandy but if Ivy is very close and I won't have to pay a fortune...:)

They'll go for around 1,400 yoyos in Germany. Considering the higher VAT and free shipping, I'd say €50 more at Komplett isn't too far off the mark.

There are plenty IB notebooks on offer in Ireland already. I doubbt there is much of a premium to be paid, usually the pricing is similar to the respective predecessors, however, you might get good bargains on stock clearance sales of the older models.

Can you tell me any shops or websites that sell Ivy here? I keep seeing 2xxx Sandy

Should see some IB models hitting B+M stores over the next month or so as they get their back to school/college ranges into stock.

I'm running the 2nd test version ... I like many of the improvements and think Metro is great, but hate it on my laptop. Best for touch, I think. So if I do take it up when it's fully out, I'm afraid I'll be one of the groaners disabling metro (only on laptop, on tablet, Metro me everything)
