Moving Sky Box to new room

    Hi,

I have a second Sky box in the upstairs bedroom. Am no longer subscribing to it so just get the free channels. I want to move this box to anothe bedroom.

Each room has a TV connection in the wall. The existing box is connected through this connection.

However when I moved the Sky box to the second bedroom and connected it, I got a "Satellite Signal not being received" message

Is there an adaptor somewhere (in the attic?) that points the satellite signal at the appropriate tv connection points?

    probably split in the attic.

the cable is comming in from the dish to the attic and connected to the cable to the first bedroom .
you will probably find the other cable going to the second bedroom is not connected to anything,

should be just a matter of disconnecting the frrd to the first room and connecting to the second room..

    Thanks for the reply John

Do you know how they would be split in the attic? Is there normally a unit to do this, or is it just a set of wires?

I had a look in the attic

There are 2 wires coming in from the dish. These are connected to 2 of the internal TV wires in the attic. However there are 4 more TV wires which are not connected (3 bedrooms and downstairs room)

But none of these wires are marked, so it's impossible to say which wire is for which room. Should these wires normaly have a marking on them to signify which room they are for?

Not necessarily, depends on the electrician who installed them initially.

If you have a multimeter handy you could do a continuity loop test on each spare co-ax cable to identify which room it belongs to.

Otherwise it'll be trial and error by joining each spare cable to one of the feeds from the dish and then checking at each TV point for a signal with the Sky box.
