Laptop speaker problem

    Hi,

I have a dell inspiron n5040 laptop and recently had it repaired with Dell. I believe they replaced the motherboard on it. Since I got it I have noticed that the sound off the speakers is no longer working. Everything looks fine for at the volume control and control panel screen in terms of volume and drivers and I plugged in a pair of headphones and they work but the speakers do not.

    Anyone have any ideas?

Maybe they didn't reconnect the speakers. Send it back.

Aw nuts. Is that a difficult thing to do? I'd prefer not to lose it again for a week. I have replaced ram and a keyboard on a laptop before so have a bit of experience with laptops but is this more difficult?

Just an update on this. Dell sent out an engineer as a goodwill gesture. He came out today and someone else was in the home when he fixed it. However the sound is working but now the laptop keyboard is not, not even the lights for caps lock are turning on. An external keyboard works ok but obviously this shouldn't be. Could this be also related to the motherboard they replaced?
