Black Caviar won her final race in the Southern Hemisphere this morning to make it 20 out of 20, the second highest rated horse in the worlds next target will be taking on Europes top sprinters at Royal Ascot.

Interesting to see how she gets on, only Frankel rated higher.

I watched a 30min clip of her done by At The Races - possibly on youtube. It was very interesting. Her trainer said she could be so good because she was not raced as often and she is now 6, an interesting theory.

Arrives in England on 8th June that is only two weeks before the Golden Jubilee??It is not a two horse race if Frankle is entered because Cirrus Des Aigles is a player.

She won't be racing against either of them, Black Caviar is entered in the Jubilee 6f sprint neither Cirrus des Aigles or Frankel are entered and won't be either

The Golden Jubilee is a 6 furlong race.

How have you possibly concocted the idea that Cirrus Des Aigles is a sprinter?

Jesus, you really do like to jump on people when they make a mistake.

    I asked him a question.

I wouldn't be so quick to put words down his throat either implying it was a "mistake". Seems to me like he doesn't have a clue what he is talking about suggesting that a middle distance horse would be a "player" in a 6 furlong sprint.

4/5 in some places for the Diamond Jubilee... Sick price, wish I had more balls for the ante-post betting!

If she travels over well its free money, Wonder what price she'll go off at on the day.. Will the public come for her?

They've sold something like 30 thousand tickets down under for tomorrows race, thats sick, too watch what basically is a foregone conclusion!
I really hope she travels, great for racing really, I can only imagine the price would be something around the 2/5 mark?? If even that!?

I'm sure there'll be many shrewdies up tonight to watch the race and lump/lay her for the Diamond Jubilee based on Moodys post race comments!

I'm not the biggest flat man so needless to say wouldn't have a huge knowledge of the game down under.

Just wondering is there any kind of colateral form that enables one to rate her versus the European horses over 6-8f? Just that Lee Mottershead said on ATR today that Frankel is officially rated higher so it got me thinking.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,886 ✭✭✭MoscowFlyer

Well a horse that she regularly beats in Oz won a big race during the Dubai World Cup meeting (name escapes me). That horse won well and Black Caviar pretty much owns it so safe to say she is as good as everyone says. Don't see anything touching her at Royal Ascot.

I don't think there's any form lines with Frankel, But she beat Star witness over 7 lengths on the bridle conceding i think 8lbs. Star witness then came over and placed 2nd and 3rd in the Kings stand and The golden jubilee. So as Moscow says she is the real deal.

The only horse I can think of is Ortensia (won at Dubai). That who you are thinking of?

Raced against the great mare only once though.

Living in Melbourne and seen every race shes had. Haylist is the 2nd best over here and he would be an odds on pop in the Diamond Jubilee. He got within 3 Lengths of her.
Black Caviar is the real deal guys. The $1.65 about at the moment for the Diamond Jubilee is free money. Price is probably only there incase she doesnt travel well or doesnt like the climate but even with that against her, I cant see her being beat or the trainer running her if he thinks there is a chance she will be beat. Too much stud money to forfeit should she lose.

    She'll win hands and heels.

After Frankel wins the Queen Anne on the Tuesday, Cecil should turn him out again on the Saturday and send this hype machine back to Ramsey Street

There's a good article about her on the Racing Post website. She's something special alright, but her winning streak can't go on forever. A really good 3yo champion class sprinter like a Stravinsky or Dayjur would put it up to her at the weights. Any candidates for a 3yo champion sprinter? Perhaps a classic failure like Born To Sea who might come back in trip.
If the reason for racing horses is to find out which one is fastest then we may as well give up now. We've found her.

Don't believe for a minute Cecil's jibes today regarding a match between Frankel/Black Caviar will come to fruition.
The only place they might meet is in the breeding stable, unfortunately.

The offer of 1m winner take all at Goodwood is very tempting.I had originally said Ascot but was corrected.

Are you going to consider Sting :)

Is it though? A battering by either horse could come at a serious cost down the line surely?

Frankel will run in the Sussex, it's up to connections of Madge Bishop to turn up

Frankel will run in the Sussex, it's up to connections of Madge Bishop to turn up

Implying that it's simply down to Black Caviars connections to make this match is plain bollix.
(Which isn't what I think your directly implying, It's what some may believe from Henry Cecils interview)

So if Moody say's BC is going to 100% run in the Diamond Jubilee, does that mean ball is in Frankels connections court...

Do you really thinking asking a sprinter, incredible one at that, to step up to a mile, along with it all the potential risks of travelling across the world, is a fair 'offer' and simply puts the onus on Madge Bishop and Moody to make this race happen?

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 1,404 ✭✭✭mr.jingle

No chance they will meet, Black Caviar is not going to be tried over a mile for the first time against the highest rated horse in the world it would be crazy of them to accept the offer. Frankel's team are unwilling to drop down to 7 furlongs so why should the BC team put there horse up to 1 mile(on top of travelling across the world). If only they could run against each other over 7f as i think it would be a cracking race and a tough one to call

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 621 ✭✭✭dave3004

They'll never meet - Too much at stake.

Get on the $1.67 available for BC to win the Diamond.

Essentially you will be betting on her making the race.

If she makes it, she wins it….simples.

1/2 Ante Post is insanity on any horse 5 weeks before the race, nevermind on a horse that has to hoon around the globe to get to it.

I was going to say you'd be bonkers to back her at odds on even if she makes it. Just enjoy the race, some of those huge field sprints can be a right pain to crack and you don't know what could happen (Remember Showcasing in the Golden Jubilee a few years ago losing all chances when Johnny Murtagh went across on Starspangledbanner to get the rail, which left a huge knock on effect meaning Showcasing was totally squeezed out and lost all chance. Very smart by Johnny, wouldn't have won had he not got to the rail, got a few days for it but he'd take that any day for a Gr.1 win)

The idea is to help the muscles recover quickly from any kind of stress like travel or workouts. The suits help enhance bloodflow.

maybe true, I'd say it would be a hard job ever convincing Henry Cecil to put something like that on Frankel... old school

You'd find him hard pressed to see Cecil bring Frankel more than 50 miles away from home!

The Comfort Zone. just like the 7f to 8f distance his career has been restricted to.

Roll on the Juddmonte International, 132 miles away and 1m2½f , let's hope that something decent turns up to give him a race, if he goes there.
