in peoples experiences - in divorce cases where one side doesn't turn up for court - how many times on average does the judge let this happen before he proceeds witht he case?

Depends on the judge. Most quite rightly take a poor view of a no show in any type of case.

Might get away with one no show, but if not ready to go on with case at second listing, your lawyer would need to be there with very convincing reasons. Other side to be first informed.
