I'm looking to pick up some superhero games but not sure which ones are good. I know the two Batman games are good and I've heard some of the Spiderman games are good too but not sure. Any help is much appreciated.

Spiderman 2 for the last gen consoles. Prepare to spend most of your time just swinging around the city doing sweet FA.

I forsee Infamous being mentioned, but really I thought it was a game that offered you this wonderful, potentially empowering skill set and then provided you with the most uninspiring situations possible to utilise them in.

The 2 Marvel Ultimate Alliance games are ok.
Tbh I cant think of many recent games besides those not already mentioned :/

Is "Shattered Dimensions" and "The Edge Of Time" any good?

They're okay. Edge of Time is the weaker of the two. It's not open world so the web swinging is restricted to web zipping for the most part. Good mix of gameplay mechanics though, and it is worth a look.

While Prototype had a slightly less inspired setting but gave you plenty of opportunities to basically HULK SMASH your way through them.

On a somewhat related note, I recommend Prototype and possibly Prototype 2 although I've yet to play that. :)

The Batman games would have to be the best of the new gen but as Johnny Ultimate said Spiderman 2 for PS2 was unbelievable.I spent hours just climbing to the top of the Empire State Building just to dive off it.That game was great fun.

Actually how could I forget O_o
The Incredible Hulk: Ultimate Destruction from the last gen is 1 of the most fun games ever created if you can get your hands on it

If we're going back to the days of Superman 64, I would have to go further and say Batman on the Spectrum(based on the movie) :D

Infamous does get my vote, but I hear the upcoming Spider-Man game is looking pretty good.
And think the Wolverine movie tie in was meant to be good enough. Haven't played it myself

I played the C64 version of that again recently and nearly 20 years later I could still only get half way through the second level in the batmobile before running out of lives. :(

I enjoyed the hell out of Wolverine alright, it's a rather simple brawler but it doesn't everything quite nicely.

I know I or my brother finished it, though don't remember if cheats or pokes were involved

    INFAMOUS 1 & 2
    PROTOTYPE 1 & 2

You can't go wrong with the two I suppose, as they're not a movie tie-in games. I'm playing prototype 2 atm and really loving it so far! :D

If you can wait til June, The Amazing Spider-Man will be released and looks really good. I'm really hoping for a next gen SM2 but will be a day one purchase regardless.

Hearing great things about Prototype 2 but never even played the 1st one. Was it any good?

Yeah I'd second this. Nothing really to lose seeing as it's free (other than the couple of hours it takes to download/update.

    Batman Arkham Asylum

Haven't played Arkham City yet but I hear it's better than Asylum

I prefer Asylum to City. City is a much bigger game and gives you more freedom whereas Asylum is very linear. But what Asylum does well it does very well. I personally think Asylum is one of the strongest games of this generation of consoles.

The infamous series definitely. The first game teaches you very well how it feels like getting new powers and how you should deal with all these new powers (that's why you have the choice to be good or evil). The second game, on the other hand, nails down perfectly how it feels to be a superhero with all the awesome powers while not being overpowered to walk though the game.

Not to mention that both games offer quite a great story and a mind**** of a twist. Also Infamous 2 is probably still the best looking sandbox game on the ps3.
