I'm in my thirties and Part of my lower wisdom tooth decayed and a piece seems to have broke off some weeks ago.
IT seems this tooth has been decaying all the time but for some reason was missed in my last checkup

I went to my dentist yesterday who tried to loosen it and remove and could not as it broke up, i got an injection to freeze the area but the pain was real bad, never felt pain like that before and still have pain but not as bad as im taking painkillers.
I now have to see a specialist on thursday next to remove the rest of it and its the soonest i could get an appointment.
Now il probably have to endure another few days of pain next week as i think it will have to be surgery removed and will go for the sedation this time

I wonder in this situation if root canal treatment may have been the better option

    Sorry to hear op.
In general, badly decayed and broken lower wisdom teeth are not ideal teeth for root canal treatment so extraction is best.
Some wisdom teeth are obviously difficult and some not so obvious... You're on the right path to getting it sorted... Painkillers for now and antibiotics if infected...

    Good luck,
    Os

    Thanks for that,
just a little bit annoyed at my dentist missing this in last appointment and then taking on the job at all seeing it was decayed with a good chance it would break up and x-rays were taken before hand.
Maybe would have been best to leave it to the specialist to do it and get it over with in one session
Im now still in pain and its very difficult to eat properly and have to go thru it all again next week.

The sedation will make it a whole lot easier next time...
