yes forestry is eligible for sfp at the moment. its treated like any other crop for these purposes (since 2009 i think) so usual rules apply. disadvantaged area payment is not eligible on forested ground

however in addition to usual rules, in order to draw sfp on forestry you must have 10% or 3 hectares (whichever is larger) of your farm still in normal agriculural use.

to give an example; total farm area might be 20 ha so maximum plantable area is 17 ha

total farm area might be 60 ha so maximum plantable area is 54 ha

keep in mind non eligible areas such as buildings/roads ...these will come out of maximum plantable area

Forestry land to be eligible to claim SFP in 2012,must have been claimed as eligible forage in 2008.
    Planted in 2009, 2010, 2011 or 2012.
It still needs to be maintained to GAEC rules. DAS is not available.
High value entitlements are trading up to 2.5 times value. No one knows what the new SFP payments will be based on.
But personally, I am buying and putting on land I planted 2 months ago.

my plantation's SFP is still going to the guy who rented the land prior to planting back in 2004-5. I guess there is nothing I can't do about it until a new reference year is announced or the game rules change?

If the land was planted in 2004/5, then the entitlements should have been stacked, for the person farming it at that time.
That land is not drawing entitlements if planted before 2009. or should I say, that land is not legally entitled to draw entitlements since it was planted. I would advise you to talk to SFP section in Portlaoise. Before 15th May.

surely the entitlements never belonged to you so when the farmer wasnt leasing the land he moved the entitlements onto different ground, unless you gave him the entitlements for nothing by accident i dont think theres anything wrong going on here. also as mentioned a couple of times, back then forestry wasnt eligible either way

    thanks for replies.

the land was planted in 09.
he must have moved entitlements to his own land when he left it;we never received anything for entitlements

It's a good question... It isn't allowed now, so it would be unlikely it would be allowed post 2013. Land planted prior to 2009 was allowed to be consolidated, therefore it has been rolled into the current SFP.
For what it's worth, I think it will be left outside the land area for SFP.
