Hi guys, i had my nct last week and the car failed on an airbag light, when u start the engine the light doesn't come on for the few seconds it's supposed to.

i rang up garage there and they said that they would have to remove the whole dash to check the bulb and then hook it up to computer to make sure there is no faults.

does this sound right,i fairly clueless bout the technical stuff!

    thanks :)

I would have thought doing it the other way around, hook up the computer first, if there is a fault on the system, why check the bulb?

If the car has a air bag system, it should light up when you turn the key. If it's not coming on at all, then the bulb may be blown, or taken out by someone to hide a fault!

I'd imagine a good independent garage, or perhaps a dedicated auto electrician would be a good place to go. If there's a airbag fault then they should be able to advise you.

thats what the garage said, someone probably took the bulb out to hide a fault,

is this an expensive job, money is fairly tight at the minute...

can anybody reccomend somewhere to go?? i live in meath but work in north dublin...

    thanks

First of all we need more details on the car, secondly like any electrical problem it can be a loose connection or a fried ECU. A diagnostic scan would be the first step.
