Does anybody know the intuitive reason as to why coils which are wound around a soft iron core induce a much larger emf when there is a current flowing? Cheers peeps

The effect of an iron core is to concentrate the magnetic flux lines near the coils and prevent flux leakage into the surrounding space. This ensures that the number of flux lines linking (cutting through) the secondary coil increases which according to Faraday's Law of electromagnetic induction will generate a higher EMF in the secondary.

Thanks for the answer but that went straight through me haha. Is there a simple reason or is it as complicated as it sounds?
