My external LaCie Rikiki 500Gb hard-drive decided to stop working last week & I tried replacing the PCB board with a new one from the exact same new hard-drive but that hasn't worked.

Anyone recommend a data recovery company (in Dublin if possible) & how much you'd expect to pay.

Nothing too important or time critical on the drive, would just like to get a weeks work off it if possible.

It's a Seagate Momentus 500Gb 2.5inch Hard drive, not that it makes any difference!:D

The company I work for recommend www.criticaldata.ie to our clients and have never received a complaint about their service. They are in Blanchardstown, I believe they charge a €50 diagnostics fee including collection from a Dublin address (unsure of prices outside of this).

We are in no way directly associated with them, and do no receive any sort of commission or "kick backs" from our recommendations.

Thanks, if anyone has used a company & would recommend that's what I'm looking for.

Do you know roughly how much they charge for the data recovery?:)

i think they charge hundreds, depends on if its simply data recovery,or if theres a physical technical hardware problem with the drive.i presume they,ll give you an estimate, before going ahead with the recovery process.
THE data on 1 drive could be worth 1000s of euro to a company ,so thats where most of their business comes from.

I've recommended them before and it still stands. I've had to use them a couple of times:
    www.datarecovery.ie
They are located in Phibsboro I think.

put it in a 2.5inch caddy, cost 20 euro. before you send it to a company, there could be a fault with the rest of the enclosure, try it in 2 pcs.

I had terrible trouble with being ripped off badly by these guys in phibsboro.

Agree with previous posts www.criticaldata.ie in Ballycoolin, excellent professional service (proper clean room etc..) and no recovery - no fee service (at least they did the last time i used them)
Well worth it (and no affiliation to them...)
