I am 16 years old and I am considering beginning motocross. I have been riding bikes as a hobby for the last couple of tears and would really love to do motocross. I drive a Honda crf 450. My father is reluctant to let me do motocross as it is not very safe. I was just wondering how dangerous motocross really is and would safety gear prevent a person from becoming seriously injured?

Check out Leinster Offroad Club on the auld facebook.

They're only starting out as a club. Their first event was last sunday in Broadford. They aim to provide cheap motocross/offroad events for starters.

Most of the protective wear isn't too expensive with exception of the (leatt) neck braces.

Give it a look, check it out.
If you want to give offroad biking a try but without the massive danger there's always Hare and Hound events or enduro or grasstrack. But all forms are dangerous.
