    Hi guys,
I am slowly losing faith in the 2 years of beauty therapy course which I did almost a year ago next month. My problem is the 600 hour requirment in order to get my qualification. I am tried numerous salons, spas, hotels, chemist and still I do not have a place that will take me on for the work experience hours. Should I change career paths altogether and go back to college in September?? Or keep trying and beg some salon owner to take me on?!!:(
Any advice would be appreciated, Thanks;)

dont give up yet!!!are you offering to work for free??because you may have to do that and work a part time job in the evenings!!a salon would definitly take you on for free!!
i did beauty therapy in the UK and this isnt a requirement it seems like a ridiculous requirement to be honest!!we just have constant clients throughout the 2 year
HND and an open salon once a week!!

i sometimes see on gumtree people offering to take on girls to help with their requirement!!
hope this helped a little bit!!

I presume you mean CIDESCO. You should have no problem getting experience if you are willing to work unpaid (obviously you need your ITEC qualifications for insurance purposes), it's a saturated market for Beauty Therapists who are fully qualified looking for work so that's your only avenue unless you get really lucky!

Hiya, I appreciate your positive and encouraging comment!!:D
The majority of places will offer unpaid work for the 600 hours but with so much competition out there these days places are very fussy when choosing an employee.
I feel it is a very bitchy and competitive industry to work in. I was very aware of this before I did the course but I thought it would not be an issue but obviously I was wrong!:( I will keep trying because going through college for 2 years would be all a waste if I gave up now:) Thanks again for the encouragment!!!

Yes I have of course since this time last year when I finished my exams. I have handed them in personally, posted CVs and emailed places as well. It's an endless battle and I pity the 2nd years this year who are finished their exams next month. Best of luck to ye! ;)
