Road Helmets

Ok so I'm the look out for a new helmet and would if possible like to avoid looking like this little fella as is the case with my current lid.

I realise the only real way to determine how one will look, fit etc is to go to a shop but with such a variety and the ever useful resource that is boards.ie, I was hoping
the learned community might have some suggestions to narrow down my search.
Doozerie recently posted a really useful link to various handlebar dimensions, does anyone know of a similar chart comparing the outermost dimensions of road helmets?
Anyway I would be interested in hearing the opinions of others who, with big heads like mine, had trouble finding a helmet that avoid comic proportions, it would also be
nice to keep a price somewhere in the 100euro zone if possible.
    Cheers. S

I'm a "Large" in a helmet also and I find Bell helmets far and away the best fit! CSS usually have a decent selection!

Me too. Had a Bell Sweep before, crashed on the commute a few weeks ago and whacked it off the kerb so I tried various Spuiks, BBB etc. None felt comfortable so headed off to Cycle Super Store and got another Bell Sweep, fits just as well, slightly updated adjustment mechanism. EUR120.00.

Bell Sweep looks nice alright...fit and comfort are of course paramount..but would you say it had a much more slender profile that other lids?

As LastGap suggests the Sweep is a great lid! I'm on my 3rd! I've tried various Giros and a Catlike Whisper Plus and I always resemble the chap in your 1st post! The Volt is nice too if you want to spend that bit extra!

Got a Bell Array from CRC last week, really nice.
Took a while to get the chin straps sorted out but if you don't like it you can always return or exchange it.

Also got a Bell Sweep for my young fella (15) recently, great fit. I have a different Bell and this is my second. I'm 61cm in m/cycle lid and a large bike helmet is fine, he's a 58cm in m/cycle lid and a Medium Sweep is perfect.

Has anyone an opinion on the Kask range? Reportedly they are 'low profile'. Might be worth a look

Dunno if I'd say "much more slender" but I take the biggest size, and I don't think it looks unusually big - not so's I've noticed anyway !
