Hi. Ive had a plumber in doing work for me i.e. changing the cylinder to a bigger one with 2 elements and few other things. He also installed a valve on a pipe and told me to get an electrician to wire that through a cylinder stat for safety incase the water got too hot. only problem is that was a few weeks ago and hes since gone abroad so im not fully sure if i have that right. is that the norm??? its a solid fuel heating system through a range

Post a picture of the cylinder including the valve he fitted , it could be a disaster if he has it fitted in the wrong place , he doesn't sound too competent if he couldn't wire it himself

If it is a solid fuel system it must not have any valves on the primary loop (the loop to the cylinder coil). It is very dangerous if this is the case.
as sullzz said get some photos up
