A friend needs a new woman's mountain bike, buying it on the bike to work scheme so has to be new, not too expensive. Its never going to be used for proper mountain biking, just forest trails and across fields etc so maybe a sturdy hybrid is more suitable, maybe this Cube Hyde Pro Womens Bike 2012 with hub gears?

Any recommendations from those more experienced in this area welcome.

That looks like more of road bike, and not esp. light.

You might be better off with something like this

You can also buy standard MTB's in small sizes, doesn't have to be women-specific.

Thanks for that, I'll check it out and see. I didn't phrase the original query particularly well, thinking further I'm not convinced a MTB is necessary considering the use it'll get hence why I linked to the Cube, and the hub gears are an added attraction as it'll NEVER be maintained to any extent.
