hi all.does any1 have a 233 axis savage if u do please tell me cause thinking of geting one.im think of hunting with rabbits,deer.fox.the licence has be sent 2 weeks ago do u know when it would come

do you mean a .223

.223 or 233 for that matter are overkill on rabbits and under no circumstances legit for deer shooting.

Who or where does it say you cannot shoot deer with a .223

A .223 wont be much good since they cant be used to shoot deer with and makes an expensive rabbit gun.

If you want a gun for foxes and deer a .243 is your best bet and get a .22, .22mag or .17hmr for rabbits.

A .223 can't be used for deer because it does not produce 1700 foot pounds of energy.
You can check the NPWS website for more information

Also you need a deer license to shoot deer.

As noted above I highlighted the word- Legit. Which means with respect to Irish Deer shooting laws.

You're thinking of getting the gun... yet you've already sent the license off 2 weeks ago?? Didnt you post in the shooting forum wondering how long it will take for your license to arrive since you sent it away 2 weeks ago??

Yup he said he had a .270 and sent off for a .223 2 weeks ago so why he mentioned a .223 for deer i dont know.

You say your super let you test a .270 because he knows you well? Jesus must try get pally with my super he might let me test out a few high power rifles before I decide I want to license them :rolleyes:
I'd imagine a knowledgeable shooter handling a .270 would very well know that a .223 is not legal here for shooting deer and they would know exactly why. This guy seems very eager to be getting his hands on this "233" ! Woops I mean .223 right

so your thinking of getting a 223 but have sent in the licence application.. this makes no sense..

Do you mean you have applied for one?
If thats so, then that to me tells me you have made your mind up and are no longer just thinking about getting one...

Plus in other pages your asking about getting/buying a mod for this 223.. have you ticked the box on your licence application for the mod?

If not you wont be (or shouldnt be) able to get one!
