Argument of Complex Numbers

Having trouble rapping my head around the angle of a complex number in different quadrants, especially the 4th quadrant.

    Take for example z=1-i
    When I calculate arctan(-1/1) I get -45deg.
What I am unsure of is what I do with this answer.
Do I add it to 270deg, which will give 225, which would lie in the 3rd quad?
Do I add it to 360deg?

If anyone can explain this to me or link me to a place that can it would be much appreciated.
