in this case the buyer won the auction on the 22/04/12 and i sent him payment details but no reply or communication so sent it again yesterday and nothing. Now the funny thing is it sold for much lower then i expected and to be honest i would be happy if i could relist the item but i want to be fair and give them time to pay sorry for babbling question is.

how long should i wait before relisting.

Did you specify anything in your listing about payment? If not, I'd give him another day or two before relisting.

If he hasn't paid, relist and maybe include in your description you need payment within 3 days or whatever.

First thing to do is file a non-paying bidder complaint. Normally it seems to be that sellers wait about a week at most for payment. If they haven't paid in 7 days, then they're not going to pay, so give it that much.

It used to be 10, then went down to 7 and now as far as I know they have 5 days to pay.

    thanks for all the advice.

ye i was thinking of waiting 7 days just to be fair but if it is 5 days that would be great. in future i will write about paying within 3 days to cover myself.

does anyone else get many people not paying seems to be happening more regular to me these days.

4 days wait max.. File the complaint they have an option to pay and the complaint will be cancelled. Don't pay and you will get your listing fees back they can't leave fb then u relist

i get it all the time, not sure why people do it, some people are genuine enough and will come back within a day or two to say their circumstances have changed and they can no longer pay or ask for an extension until payday, in those cases i have no issue in helping people out.

i have the automatic settings in place with ebay that raise a non payment case after 4 days and after another 4 days it will close the case and refund me the final sale fee.

you have to remember that ebay charge you a fee if an item sells and will charge you that no matter what happens unless you raise a case and claim it back.

Is the buyer also charged a fee even if she pulls out of the sale? Surely if someone agrees to buy their paypal account is debited. Otherwise the seller is left stranded and having to lodge a claim to get fee refunded.
Do people not need a credit card to set up ebay?
Is there a way to only allow bidders who have paypal?

No, the buyer is not charged for non-payment, where as a seller is automatically charged at the end of the auction, though this can be reclaimed easily enough in the event of a non-paying bidder.

Paypal and eBay are still separate systems, so on buying an item on eBay you still need to complete Paypal's payment procedure separately. An auto-payment from Paypal as soon as you buy or win an auction could probably be implemented, but so far has not been. Not sure how well that would go down either.

I thought ebay was meant to be good! So I sell something but the buyer doesn't have to pay for it. That makes a lot of sense. Plus the seller has to pay a charge. Surely, many buyers will pull that stunt and try to do a private sale on the side.
If you relist can you block a buyer from rebuying?
Can you ensure that the buyer has paypal?
