Two questions for people who use job websites

    Hi all

I was hoping to get your answers to these two questions. Thanks in advance for taking the time to read and answer them.

    1. When using job websites, would you rather any intern or WPP (FAS's Work Placement Programme scheme) jobs were confined to the intern/work experience category? For example, let's say there is a sales intern position. Would you like to see this in both the sales category and the intern category, or do you think it should be in the intern category only?

    2. What is your understanding of the different job categories on job websites? For example, do you think the job category "science" should only have jobs for scientists, or should it have general jobs within the science industry, e.g. sales jobs in a science company. In other words, do you think each category means "any job within this industry" (e.g. a sales job in a science company) or do you think each category means "specific job type" (e.g. science jobs for scientists only).

    Any feedback appreciated. Thanks.

    1. Yeah any Jobridge or FAS WPP positions should be in their own intern section away from the paying jobs sections. Theses internships are only available to people on social welfare so not much use to anyone else.

    2. I'm an Engineer so I only look for Engineering positions. No point in having any other jobs in the Engineering category so. It just clutters it up.

    1) I'd say keep them separate or specifically marked so they can be easily excluded from the search.

    2) Good question. Would it be overcomplicating things to have a job category and an industry category? If that's a problem, then I think it should refer to the job itself, not the industry.

Definitely as far as question 2 goes, job should relate specifically to the type of person they want to employ i.e. all jobs in the science category should only relate to jobs for scientists. It can be very annoying to have to scroll through numerous for example sales jobs in the science category, these sales jobs should definitely be confined to the sales category.

Another point i would say is that some areas are doubled up. For example i'm also an engineer, so i have to look under both the engineering category and the construction category for jobs as some jobs are only posted to one or the other of these categories, in this case the jobs should be posted to both if they relate to both. I.e. a civil engineering job relates to both engineering and construction.
