    Hi guys,

My 6 year old HP runs like a dog with one leg so have been keeping an eye out for any decent deals at the moment. Not looking for a top multimedia centre or great gaming machine, just a decent good at most things laptop with HDMI out order to output home movies, photos etc onto t.v.

Anyway, this caught my eye this morning and as I haven't really been monitoring what's out there at the moment I'm not sure how it compares to similar on the market at the moment.

€579 for a 17.3" laptop with a 2nd gen Core i3 and a discrete GPU is a pretty decent price.

What bothers me, Dell offers these machines with only 3 GB and no option to upgrade. You will have to upgrade the RAM yourself, i.e. w an 8GB DDR3 1333 MHz dual channel kit (46 Euro at shop4memory.com)

Other than that, there is nothing wrong with that offer.

Edit, I stand corrected, the Inspiron 17R does actually have 4 GB RAM, so that's OK then.

Cheers Torqay, yip, 4Gb of ram as standard. Reviews seem to have it marked as an entry level model in its range but pricing (all US based) seems to have it anywhere between €700-€1000, depending on its specific build.

$700 for the basic model sounds pretty much like it, lower sales taxes (VAT) in the US.

This actually looks very good given the price

    CPU/ dedicated GPU/ screen resolution/screen size etc.

    I'd say go for it:)

Found a couple of e-vouchers languishing in my inbox so I managed to get the price to just below €500, couldn't really turn my nose up at that could I ?
