    I'm in a situation where i have 3 kids with my x-girlfriend, we are still living together down the country for the past 14 or more years, and i know nobody here to ask for information.

    My situation is like this, work finished 2 years ago, since then nothing is right, she wants me out and we cant stand each other. Ive been sleeping on a sofa, living in my car, sleeping in car sleeping rough for past 4 years.I cant just move to my parents as they live 300kms away, i cant just call into a friend and ask to stay there as i don't know anyone here.

    What do i do, its kinda all caught up on me now, and i need to get a place of my own. how does the council help here, im single father 3 kids and living in a nightmare. I need help and i need advice where to go and what to say.

    im useless at this typing and explaining my situation, but its got to stage now where i don't really care no more , and this maybe is last chance of me getting my life sorted,

    i need some advice , do i go to housing officer, what am i entitled to , will they house me so i can have my kids so many days and so on.

    what is the answer where do i go.

    or have i just typed all this that took 3 hours into a wrong box.

    anyways. thanks , hopefully some one can give me advice.

    remember 1 thing, the relation ship will not be fixed. i need to be out but have no money as i gave every thing to her all my years working never saved a penny , i give over all my social income to her , i keep 8 euros for smokes, i have nothing, except the love for my kids.

    i need some where to have peace and rest. i need some where to take my kids.

    Go to your local community welfare officer and apply for rent allowance.

    They are located usually in the local health centre on a certain day of the week so try ringing the local clinic and seeing what day you need to go in.
    I know my sisters ex got rent allowance for a house(as opposed to a room in a shared house) because he had his kids a certain number of nights a week.

    You would need to also apply for a council house in order to claim rent allowance.

    The community welfare officer will also be able to advise you about applying for a medical card (I think although that may have changed)

    Another port of call would be your local citizens advice centre

    (a list of them are here http://centres.citizensinformation.ie/ along with more information about benefits etc)

    Best of luck. Separations are never easy and usually it can take time to find your feet especially having to find a new place and sort all that out.
