    Hey Folks,

I'm looking at buying a macbook at the moment but I really don't want to spend 1500+ and find out a new one is released in 2 months. Whats the general consensus on when the next gen macbook is coming? I know nobody knows but I just want to see what people think. If its likely that another will be released this year, I'll hold off.

Cheers - there seems to be something there which suggests that they may release a new macbook in Q3 of this year. I guess I'll try hold out.

The next MBP update is at least 2-3 months away. Significant changes are afoot, so it's well worth waiting. Slimmer form-factor, no optical drive and probably increased battery life.

I agree with Sad Professor. It's better to wait. Usually i wait until the new Macbook is released then buy the last generation at 20%+ off. Great deals to be had especially if the current generation now suits your needs.

I doubt it. The Air is too minimalist in its design. The same won't work for the Macbook Pro. They could keep the current Pro around and launch a 15-inch MBA, but I can't see them doing that either. Instead I think they'll drop the optical drive and make it as slim as they can without sacrificing USB ports, Ethernet, storage and all those other things that Pro users can't live without.
