Automatic redirect to UK based sites

Hi, not sure if this belongs here but ill try. Just wondering if anyone has had any experience with sites that will redirect you to the UK version of that site. Hi, not sure if this belongs here but ill try.

Just wondering if anyone has had any experience with sites that will redirect you to the UK version of that site.

For example, i used to be able to go to gamespot.com. Thats the US site.
For the past few weeks, when entering that URL, i get pushed to - UK.gamespot.com.

Its a proper pain, google has yielded little results on the issue. Any ideas?

Could be Gamespot.com has been set to check the geographic area of the visiting IP and redirect to the nearest site.
