Does anyone know if the CO2 figure used in the NCT centre for VRT calculation taken from the V5 or is it taken from some form of VIN database?

It doesn't affect me but just wondering if someone had to change engine and the CO2 figures were lower for that engine, would they be allowed the lower CO2 figure or is the V5 gospel.

It is what their computer says it is.

If the Co2 rating is lower on the V5 form than on their system then they would go by the V5 rating. However since the NCT took it over it might be different and you may have to pay the initial higher rate and then appeal afterwards.

yeah, but you can verbally request the ncts person to use the V5 Co2 rating.......they have no choice in the matter if its on the v5.

Generally with NCTS if the computer says no that's your lot. You are left with no option but paying and then appealing.

The engine doesnt have its own Co2 figure. The same engine in 2 different cars will have different figure because of thing slike weight and tune.

So unless the car is available with the new engine it wont have an official figure.
