I'm just going to bump this up. I think it would be helpful to a lot of people, including myself.:P

A ladies shoe retailler is currently looking to employ a suitable person on a part-time basis to operate a sandwich board around Dublin City Centre. This is something we are currently trialing, so position is temporary.

To apply for the position please pm Application / CV.

Send on your CV to stand on the street wearing a sandwich board. Nice. What kind of experience are you looking for? Some sign holding, or pacing?

It is pretty disheartening handing in dozens of CV's/applications day-after-day and getting no responses. Everywhere seems to require a year or more prior experience - any solutions on getting around this? I mean surely we all have to get our start somewhere. I honestly don't know of anybody getting a summer job tis year that didn't have contacts to get them in somewhere.

try all the shopping centres near to you. hopefully people still go away for the summer so some summer jobs may be available

Its actually so depressing. The only things available are those dreadful door to door things.

I've applied everywhere I can think of. My CV is good, I'm capable and hardworking. I don't have much experience but I've offered to work unpaid or at half rates just for the sake of getting some experience but nobody even writes back. I'd love to do any kind of work in a cafe or retail, but everything seems to require ten kinds of qualification and years of experience. I don't know where I'm even meant to start :(

Did the same as you Chuchoter. Offered to work for free as an intern and still got no responses. It's a joke. And I know ranting gets you nowhere but it really is just so frustrating sitting around doing nothing.
