Sound - System volume too low?

This issue has only been on my HP Dv6700 since last night, sounds no matter how loud I have won't go any louder.

I checked the system volume, the sound mixer volume, headphones (in 2 aux slots) and the media player.. all maxed out and I can barely hear the music compared to how I usually have it.

    Any ideas?

Does it have a volume slider on top of the keyboard?
The first thing you’ll notice with the dv6700 series is the design of the the laptop and on it; the Imprint design on the cover and the handrest area. Also, the shortcut keys are touch sensitive buttons and the volume button is a touch/slider; very sleek looking.

All computers need boost i believe .All need aux.My own guess is the makers don't want lawsuits over tinnitus and deafness .

Yea I disabled it in the devices manager because if the laptop got warm the sliders would keep turning the volume down (it's not happening now).

When I said aux I mean the regular 3.5mm jack port in the laptop

Can you load some Linux Live CD and check if the sound is OK there?

Before if I had everything on full blast (which I didn't) I couldn't stand to put the headphones in my ear it was that loud, now with everything on full blast I can barely hear it.

Torqay, I wouldn't know where to start with that tbh.
