I have a metallic black car with a long scratch along the panels that i cannot afford to get re-sprayed.
What is the best of the tempory repair options?

If the scratch is down to the metal, Id advice you at minimum keep the scratch waxed - this will help prevent water getting at it and eventually rust.

It might be worth taking a few pictures and sending them to some smart repair places to get an idea of prices - it might not be as costly as you think.

Seen some spray work done by Trim Tech, based in Swords (Dublin) and it was a good job!
