Does anyone is there any adaptor/way of connecting usb end of iphone lead to a car ignition / Fuse Box?

I have the phone very neat in holder with power lead adaptor
I have run the cable to the cig lighter plug very discreetly behind the body
work , it looks messy at the cig lighter , i hgave a neat handsfree device plugged in which works great , the hands free has an usb input so i plug it there and it charges , it would be fierce neat if it could bve wired permanently , I mean so that it would turn off when ignition key removed

    any advice apprecited

    M

Buy a replacement cigarette lighter and fit it behind the panel where your current cigarette lighter is. They're on ebay for 2.50
I'm not sure if you could split the cable so that the existing cigarette lighter port works too. Worth a try.

    thks

I would have concerns re protecting circuits with proper fuse etc.

Last thing I want is a car fire!

Bring your car to a competent mechanic and he'll sort it out in twenty minutes for you. It can be just wired direct to the connection at the back of the cigarette lighter.

Wiring it directly would mean breaking the USB adaptor to get to where the wires are soldered. The fuse is on a spring so it could be hard to keep the fuse in place. You don't want to have to remove the ashtray panel every time you get a lose connection going around a corner.

It could work perfectly but it sounds messy to me.

That's why i said competent. If its done right by someone who knows what they're doing its an easy job.
